University Summary

The University of Dayton Department of Biology invites applications for an Associate Professor or Professor specializing in Regenerative Biology, Molecular Genetics, or Tissue Engineering, to join the faculty and serve as the Director of the University’s TREND (Tissue Regeneration & Engineering at Dayton) Center, beginning July 1, 2018. All areas of specialization in Regenerative Biology, Tissue Engineering, Molecular Genetics, or Stem Cell Biology and Disease will be considered. This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative leader with interdisciplinary research experience to promote a university strategic priority to develop a high-impact research program in health and bio-sciences/bio-engineering.

This position will direct a nationally competitive extramurally funded research program that involves Ph.D., M.S., and undergraduate students, and will provide vision and administrative leadership for the university’s TREND Center, an Ohio Center of Excellence. Expectations include teaching an undergraduate/graduate lecture course and supervising a laboratory course per semester in Molecular Biology, or area of specialty. The faculty hire will be expected to mentor graduate and undergraduate students and serve as an academic advisor to biology and pre-medicine majors.

The TREND Center director is a 12-month position, with a four-year, renewable term.
The director of TREND reports to the Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Research and Experiential Initiatives. Faculty teaching assignments are arranged with the chair of the Department of Biology. Minimum Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedical Science or a related discipline
• Demonstrated successful record of a nationally competitive extramurally funded research program in Regenerative Biology, Tissue Engineering, Molecular Genetics, or Stem Cell Biology and Disease
• Articulated commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Record of teaching, research and service in required field commensurate with the expectations for tenure and appointment at the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Dayton.

In addition to the above requirements, appointment at the rank of Professor requires a record of teaching, research and service in required field commensurate with the expectations for tenure and appointment at the rank of Professor in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Dayton.
