University Summary

The GE EPIS Center Professor in Aerospace Electrical Power Systems will lead departmental research in the areas of Electrical Power Systems, Power Electronics, and/or Electrical Machines. They will expand our academic program in areas relating to electrical power systems and will forge partnerships with government laboratories and with local industry to secure funded research from federal agencies and industry.

Minimum Qualifications

1. For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
An established record of scholarship and
an established record of funded research commensurate with an appointment at the Associate Professor rank.

For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:
An established record of scholarship demonstrating authoritative contributions to their discipline and an established record of competitively funded and individually directed research commensurate with an appointment at the Full Professor rank.
2. A strong research agenda in at least two of three areas of interest: Electrical Power Systems, Power Electronics, and Electrical Machines.
3. An undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
4. A doctorate in engineering;
5. Evidence of effective teaching in their research area;
6. Because of the need for collaboration with the GE EPISCenter and U.S. government agencies, and the need to access research facilities, U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Leadership experience in an academic or industry research environment;
2. Evidence of effective mentoring with a diverse population of students;
3. Experience of academic course and program development;
4. Strong written and oral communication skills;
5. Effective collaborative partnerships with other researchers;
6. Success in securing funded research from federal agencies or industry;
7. Knowledge of materials science.
