THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor level faculty position specializing in clinical psychology to begin August 16, 2018. Responsibilities of the position include contributing to the undergraduate and graduate teaching needs of the department, supervising graduate master’s theses, and advising and mentoring undergraduate students. The 22-member

Minimum Qualifications

*Completion of all Clinical Psychology Ph.D. course requirements at the time of application, with the exception of completion of the dissertation defense and pre-doctoral internship.
*Demonstrated record of scholarship in the area of Clinical Psychology.

  • Experience in college teaching.
    *Interest in and perceived potential for teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level including Health Psychology and Introduction to Clinical Psychology.
  • Expressed and perceived commitment to undergraduate and graduate education,
    including expressed interest and willingness to explore interdisciplinary connections within the social sciences.
Preferred Qualifications

*Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Health Psychology although all areas of Clinical Psychology will be considered.
*Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to teach psychology courses at the undergraduate level including Tests and Measurements, Abnormal Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to teach Integrated Social Sciences course.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to teach graduate level courses including Experimental Design and Statistics.
*Experience teaching and/or advising students from diverse backgrounds.
*A demonstrated record of quality scholarship in the area of Health Psychology.
*A demonstrated record of experience conducting research exploring questions related to diverse populations.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to mentor graduate theses and undergraduate honors projects.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to supervise graduate theses and undergraduate research/honors projects.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to engage in undergraduate academic advising.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to develop special topics courses in the candidate’s area of expertise that would support department needs.
*Ability, interest, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in and beyond the department.
*Effective interpersonal communication skills.
*Expressed willingness to apply professional knowledge to community problems.
*Expressed willingness to engage with Marianist and Catholic values such as social justice and educating the whole person.
*Perceived competence in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
