POSITION SUMMARY

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT EGLIN AFB, FL. The purpose of this position is to conduct on-site research at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Munitions Directorate, Energetic Materials Branch at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Research focus areas consist of mechanical characterization of composite materials, to include: quasi-static and dynamic strain rate characterization, reduced and elevated temperature testing, and cyclical/vibrations loading of materials. This position is currently funded for 3 years.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for P1:
BS in an engineering or physical science field.
Experience in mechanical testing of materials in two of the three following technical areas:
1) Quasi-static and dynamic strain rate characterization,
2) Reduced and elevated temperature testing,
3) Cyclical/vibrations loading of materials.
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Candidate must be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications for P2:
BS in an engineering or physical science field with at least 3 years related experience.
Experience in mechanical testing of materials in two of the three following technical areas:
1) Quasi-static and dynamic strain rate characterization,
2) Reduced and elevated temperature testing,
3) Cyclical/vibrations loading of materials.
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Candidate must be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong technical communication skills (oral and written).
Experience presenting at conferences.
Experience formally documenting research studies (i.e., technical reports).
3 years familiarity collecting and analyzing data using oscilloscopes and National Instruments LabVIEW is preferred.
3 years experience working in a research environment is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance competing priorities effectively.
