POSITION SUMMARY

The Software Systems Group is looking to add a senior research software engineer to support ongoing government research in supervisory control and cognition. We support multiple projects that integrate systems of systems that provide advanced user interfaces, simulation, and autonomy to support unmanned vehicle research.
The primary functions will be software development, integration, technical leadership and process development.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience developing and leading software application development in C++, C#, Java, or other object oriented languages.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating systems of event-driven systems
  • Demonstrated experience developing advanced user interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience in software development to support research goals
  • Due to the nature of the work, must be US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing team of engineers with a working knowledge of Agile Development process
  • Experience applying appropriate measures of modern software development processes such as test-driven-development, continuous integration, and issue tracking to support research software development
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ability to communicate well both written and orally. This includes being able to present new concepts to current and new customers, publishing new concepts in publications, speaking at conferences, etc.
  • Familiarity with modern autonomy technologies
  • Ability to demonstrate a mastery in an OO programming language, such as Java, C++ or C#.
  • Have expert knowledge in ONE or more of these ares:
    – Data visualization and intelligent sensor systems
    – Computer vision, robotics and pattern recognition
    – Big Data / cloud architecture
    – Popular libraries such as OpenCV, OpenGL, etc.
    – Algorithm development including using MatLab
    – Creating large scale software projects
    – Frameworks that enable TDD and MVC development
    – System interoperability that allows for plug and play architectures.
  • Experience in proposal writing in response to RFPs, BAA’s, and grants.
