The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and highly talented engineer to perform research in the area of composites design and manufacturing. The successful candidate will have experience in polymer matrix composites design and simulation. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with additional experience in injection molding.

Candidate will have an awareness of technology funds and funding trends.

Additionally, the candidate will help build the composites business through proposal writing and marketing the capabilities of UDRI to prospective customers.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited University, and a minimum 2.8 GPA is required.

In addition the candidate must have:

At least 3 years of experience working in composites/polymers industry.

At least 3 years experience conducting composite design using CAD and FEA commercial codes.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally on technical subject areas.

An ability to work well with others and motivate fellow team members.

Due to security clearance requirements of this position, the applicant must be a permanent resident or U.S. Citizen.

Ability to Lift 35 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum requirements, a preferred candidate will also have:

Injection molding of thermoplastics.

Moldex3D and/or MoldFlow software.

PAM-FORM, Aniform Composites software experience.

Proficiency in SolidWorks

Understanding of FEA and ABAQUS CAE.

Ability to author technical papers and present findings at conferences.

Program Management

Contributes to proposal and marketing effort in order to secure funds to support self.

Preparation of technical documents.

Organizes experimental and/or technical results and prepares reports.

Ability to train other professionals and technicians.

Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00
