POSITION SUMMARY

This position is design engineering support for aircraft and vehicle sustainment technology including vehicle maintenance, aircraft maintenance and ground support equipment. This role will support design, re-engineer and test/validation of hardware for cold spray repair technologies.

The ideal candidate will:
-Design and optimize component and system repairs utilizing surface repair technologies such as cold spray and additive mfg.
-Create and document repair procedures for repair designs on mechanical components (i.e. housings, brackets, structural supports, vehicle parts and aerospace hardware) in accordance with current and applicable standards.
-Interface with USAF hardware owners and teams for component repair selection and understanding design intent for hardware identified for repair utilizing cold spray technologies.
-Work with USAF hardware engineers to ensure product conformance with engineering design intent and performance requirements.
-Create and execute component and system level validation and qualification test plans, as well as analysis of test data and results.

The work will primarily support government customers, but some industrial business may be supported by this position as well.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for a P2:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
-4 years design/repair engineering and hardware ownership experience with working knowledge of GD&T standards.
-Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
-1 year of experience in analysis of components in relation to mechanical systems, including Finite Element Analysis for structural, fatigue,
thermal, vibration, and acoustics.
-1 year of experience with creating and executing component and system level validation and qualification test plans, as well as analysis of test data and results.
-Hands on experience with various manufacturing and repair processes such as cold spray, HVOF, plasma spray, NC machining, heat treat and additive manufacturing for metals.
-Materials properties background and experience as it relates to repair technologies.
-Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software and FEA analysis.
-Proficient in Matlab, Excel and other MS Office Suite programs.
-Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required.
-Attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

-Master’s degree (Mechanical, Materials or Chemical engineering or related engineering field).
-8+ years design/repair engineering and hardware ownership experience.
-3+ years experience in repair/surface repair analysis and FEA.
-Effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organization.
-Self-motivated & organized with ability to work with minimal supervision.
-Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
-Working knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA processes.
-Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
-Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD modeling and Ansys or Abaqus for FEA.
-Active US Security Clearance.
