POSITION SUMMARY

This person will work at WPAFB, Area B, Building 28. They will focus on providing materials engineering and subject matter expertise to Air Force robotics and laser applications. Tasks include working directly with government and UDRI staff to develop prescreen and qualification test plans; conducting research, analysis, and develop reports; testing materials including metallic and composite substrates, low observable coatings and traditional and non-traditional topcoat and primers for Air Force aircraft, missiles, support equipment and associated component; analyzing data using computer modelling software; executing and documenting test plan results; preparing reports and briefing to present to senior UDRI and Air Force leadership; working to solve problems arising during the manufacturing process or with the finished product, such as those caused by daily wear and tear or a change of environment; advising on inspection, maintenance and repair procedures; liaising with colleagues in manufacturing, technical and scientific support, purchasing and marketing and academia; considering the costs implications of materials used and alternatives, in terms of both time and money; gathering and assembling various types of complex data and analysis to develop informational and decision type briefings; and identifying operational shortfalls, analyze solutions and write requirements documents.

Minimum Qualifications

BS degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field

8 years of experience in coating application or removal in the aerospace industry

Active US Security Clearance

Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

MS degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field

12 years of experience in coating application or removal in the aerospace industry

A solid understanding of the Air Force acquisition lifecycle and qualification processes

Demonstrated performance and proven results

Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal

Excellent active listening skills

Problem solving and root cause identification skills

Strong analytic and decision making abilities

Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization

Must be a team player and able to work with and through others

Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

Willing to travel
